Melissa J Hunt was born and raised in Howell, NJ where her training included the Fine and Performing Arts Magnet Program at Howell High School, the NJ Governor's School of the Arts, and Music & Motion Dance Pre-Professional Dance Company. She graduated from the University at Buffalo with a BFA in Dance, summa cum laude.
Her career first started in company dance where she performed at Jacob's Pillow Inside/Out Theatre and Dumbo Dance Festival. She also performed multiple wroks including Interscape with the Merce Cunningham Trust and received an internship with the Isadora Duncan Dance Foundation.
She then went on to pursue a career in musical theatre and gratefully crossed paths with choreographer, Al Blackstone. Melissa has been alongside Al as his associate, assistant, and performer on numerous projects including Fire Island Dance Festival, BCEFA Gypsy of the Year, and Northeast tour American Dance Spectacular.
Besides doing work with Al Blackstone, Melissa has performed in various regional theatre's performing in shows such as West Side Story, Annie, and Jesus Christ Superstar. She also performs in TYA shows at the 92Y including The Velveteen Rabbit where she played Boy and Little Red Riding Hood.
Currently, Melissa is traveling the country with the 2nd National Tour of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as a female swing. The creative team includes direction from Jack O'Brien and Matt Lenz (tour), choreography by Joshua Burgasse and Alison Solomon (tour), and musical direction by Nate Patten.
